The Quantum Simulation Group develops and uses state-of-the-art quantum simulation tools to predict new materials with target properties (e.g., novel nanostructures) and to investigate states of matter difficult to access experimentally (e.g., dynamical and extreme conditions).

Latest QSG Group News

QSG researchers Guilia Galli, Jeffrey Grossman and Andrew Williamson, in collaboration with Francois Gygi, Anthony Van Buuren and Louis Terminello were awarded a 2004 LLNL Science and Technology award for their discovery of Bucky-diamond and unraveling the atomic structure of silicon and germanium nanoparticles.

QSG researchers Stanimir Bonev, Eric Schwegler, Tadashi Ogitsu and Giulia Galli have discovered a new melt curve of hydrogen, resulting in the possible existence of a near ground state metallic fluid - a brand new state of matter.
